LOS ANGELES (AFX) -- The Weinstein Company and Rainbow Media Holdings have forged an agreement to co-own a film library geared for television and home video, the companies said Thursday. In their first deal since splitting from Walt Disney Co. , Harvey and Bob Weinstein -- who will leave their posts later this year as co-heads at Disney's Miramax Films -- will share distribution profits with Rainbow. Rainbow also will get first options on U.S. television premieres for any film in the library. Rainbow owns American Movie Channel, WE: Women's Entertainment and Independent Film Channel, along with IFC's theatrical film operations. In exchange, the Weinsteins will distribute home videos of Rainbow's productions.
