ECONOMIC INDICATORS:
Labor Department releases first-time claims for jobless benefits for the week ended Sept. 12, 8:30 a.m. (1230 GMT). Economists in a Reuters survey forecast a total of 555,000 new filings compared with 550,000 in the prior week.
Commerce Department releases housing starts and permits for August, 8:30 a.m. (1230 GMT). Economists in a Reuters survey expect a 600,000 annualized rate compared with a 581,000 rate in July. A rate of 580,000 permits is expected versus a 564,000 rate in the prior month.
Philadelphia Federal Reserve Bank releases September business activity survey, 10 a.m. (1400 GMT). Economists in a Reuters survey forecast a reading of 8.0 versus 4.2 in August.
Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International releases its book-to-bill ratio for August, 6 p.m. (2200 GMT). In July, the book-to-bill ratio was 1.06.
