DUBLIN, Oct 3 (Reuters) - Irish voters have given resounding approval to the European Union's Lisbon reform treaty, Prime Minister Brian Cowen said on Saturday.
Declaring victory for the Irish government's 'Yes' campaign before the end of vote counting following Friday's referendum, Cowen told a news conference: 'The Lisbon Treaty will be carried decisively'.
'Today the Irish people have spoken with a clear and resounding voice. It is a good day for Ireland and it is a good day for Europe,' he said.
