FRANKFURT, Jan 7 (Reuters) - Shares in Swiss Life rose about 3 percent on Thursday and traders pointed to speculation that German insurer Allianz could be interested in making a bid for the company.
Swiss Life shares were up 2.9 percent by 1513 GMT, outperforming the DJ Stoxx European Insurance Index, which was down 0.6 percent.
Allianz and Swiss Life were not immediately available for comment.
The volume on Swiss Life shares already represented 125 percent of the stock's 90-day average daily volume, compared with 74 percent for Switzerland's SMI index.
