Lawmaker seeks quick review of Comcast, NBC deal
The chairman of a congressional panel urged regulators to expeditiously conduct their review of a proposed joint venture between Comcast Corp and NBC Universal.
'The companies deserve an answer in a timely manner,' said Rick Boucher, chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Communications, Technology and the Internet.

MasterCard tumbles after results, but Visa up
Shares of MasterCard Inc plunged on Thursday after the company reported a quarterly profit that missed expectations because of higher-than-expected costs.
The world's No. 2 credit card network also logged an after-tax severance charge that shaved earnings by 19 cents per share.

The stock dropped 8.7 percent to $225.93. Among other card companies, Capital One Financial fell 3.4 percent to $35.30, American Express slid 2 percent to $37.57 and Discover Financial lost 2 percent to $13.04.
Shares of Visa Inc gained 2.2 percent to $85.30 a day after it reported first-quarter earnings that beat expectations.

U.S. stocks tumbled on Thursday as the number of Americans claiming jobless benefits rose unexpectedly and renewed fears of sovereign debt problems in Europe led investors to dump riskier assets.

The Dow Jones industrial average fell 1.9 percent to 10,079.57 while the S&P 500 lost 2.1 percent to 1,074.47 and the Nasdaq was off 2 percent to 2,147.52.

Sequenom rallies after genetic test launch
Sequenom Inc launched its SEQureDx technology-based genetic test, which detects fetal DNA in maternal blood, assuring investors of the science behind the technology.
Last April, Sequenom had delayed the launch of its prenatal Down Syndrome test, SEQureDx, citing mishandling of research and development test data by employees, throwing the market into doubt regarding the feasibility of the SEQureDx technology.
