WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Mosaic Co. (MOS) reported that its second-quarter net earnings attributable to the company were $623.6 million or $1.40 per share, down from $1.03 billion or $2.29 per share in the same quarter last year. The prior year result included a $570 million after-tax gain, $1.27 per share, from the sale of the Fosfertil business.
However, adjusted net income attributable to the company rose to $623.6 million or $1.40 per share, from $455.5 million or $1.02 per share in the same quarter last year.
Revenues for the quarter rose to $3.01 billion from $2.67 billion in the prior year quarter.
Total sales volumes for the Potash segment are expected to range from 1.2 to 1.5 million tonnes for the third quarter of fiscal 2012. Total sales volumes for the Phosphates segment are expected to range from 2.2 to 2.6 million tonnes for the third quarter of fiscal 2012.
