ZURICH (dpa-AFX) - Zurich Financial Services Group (ZURN.VX, ZFSVF.PK) Thursday reported estimated that fourth-quarter loss from catastrophic events, net of insurance recoveries, between $200 million and $250 million, with the floods in Thailand alone expected to hurt results by $250 million to $300 million. The company's fourth-quarter release may be expected along with the Annual Report, presently due February 16, 2012. Also included in the estimate is a $80 million loss due to the earthquake and aftershocks in Christchurch, New Zealand. Further, Zurich Financial noted that these losses triggered the company's global reinsurance cover, resulting in additional recoveries of $130 million.
