TOKYO (dpa-AFX) - Japan-based TDK Corp. (TTDKY.PK) Tuesday reported a net loss of 11.64 billion Yen, or loss of 90.24 Yen per share, for the third quarter ended 31st December 2011 compared to a profit of 12.59 billion Yen, or 97.64 Yen per diluted share, reported for the corresponding quarter last year. In dollar amounts, the latest quarter's net loss was $149.2 million, or $1.16 per share. Net sales for the third quarter fell to 191.76 billion yen from 219.93 billion a year ago. Passive Components sales fell 16.6 percent year-over-year while Magnetic Applications Products registered a 20.8 percent decline. For the 9-month period, the company reported a net loss of 4.92 billion Yen, or 38.15 yen per diluted share, compared to a profit of 38.71 billion Yen, or 299.82 Yen per diluted share, reported for the same period last year. In dollar terms , the company reported a net loss of $63.10 million, or $0.49 per diluted share, for the 9-month period. Net sales or the 9-month period declined to 608.9 billion Yen from 662.17 billion reported last year. Passive Components sales fell 9.1 percent year-over-year while Magnetic Applications Products registered a 15.6 percent decline.
