WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - CareFusion Corp. (CFN) reported that its second-quarter net income was $95 million or $0.42 per share, up from $76 million or $0.34 per share in the same quarter last year. Adjusted income from continuing operations increased 4 percent from the prior year period to $99 million, or $0.44 per share. Operating income was $143 million, an increase of 17 percent compared to $122 million in the prior year period. Excluding nonrecurring items, adjusted operating income for the second quarter was unchanged at $150 million. Rvenue for the second was $915 million, compared to $886 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2011, an increase of 3 percent on a reported and constant currency basis. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.44 per share on revenues of $914.18 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items. CareFusion continues to expect fiscal 2012 consolidated revenue to grow 3 to 5 percent on a constant currency basis compared to fiscal 2011 revenue of $3.53 billion. The company narrowed its previous full-year guidance range for adjusted earnings per share from continuing operations of $1.75 to $1.90 to a new range of $1.75 to $1.85. Analysts expect the company to report earnings of $1.81 per share on revenues of $3.65 billion for fiscal 2012.
