STOCKHOLM (dpa-AFX) - Swedish apparel retailer Hennes & Mauritz AB (HEN.L, HMRZF.PK, HNNMY.PK), or H&M, said in March 2012, its total sales including VAT in local currencies rose by 26 percent versus last year.
Sales in comparable units improved by 16 percent. Comparable units comprise the stores and the internet and catalogue sales countries that have been in operation for at least a financial year.
According to the company, sales in March were positively affected by, among other things, favorable weather and a positive calendar effect. These factors will have a very negative effect in April, H&M noted.
Further, the total number of stores amounted to 2,517 on March 31, 2012 compared to 2,238 on March 31, 2011.
