A market first Report/Study by top corporate break-up (Spinoff) research specialist, The Spinoff Report® (TSR) and Deloitte found that over the past decade, 30% of Corporate Spinoffs are taken-over within two years. Notably, CWW was on TSR's potential M&A / take-over watch-list.
Acquisition - This week, leading mobile phone operator, Vodafone (VOD), had its 38GBp offer for the UK's, IP and telecom operator Cable & Wireless Worldwide (CWW) successfully accepted.
Predicted - It's been two years since CWW demerged from its former and then circa £4bn, global fixed line telephony, FTSE listed parent, Cable & Wireless (CW). TSR provide leading analysis of future Spinoffs for the current combined company vs. the full valuation of each post break-up. At the time (March 2010), TSR focused on the M&A potential for CWW as well as the potential acquirers.
Jim Osman, CEO of TSRcommented: "CWW has a strategic importance and significance in the UK's business telecoms sector and as such offers an acquirer equally significant competence and scale, which in turn represents an important strategy of serving global telecom companies."
