Video series details Illinois farmer's success - only seen on the IDEAg Interconnectivity Conference Video Network
Randy Murdock, of Murdock Farms in Reynolds, IL, has in recent years incorporated John Deere equipment technologies into his farming operation, and it has paid off with increases in operational efficiencies and production. Murdock's technology success story was recently captured on video and is now available on the IDEAg Interconnectivity Conference online video network.
One of the technologies Murdock has benefited from is automatic row shutoff, which he says is an expense that has more than paid for itself.
"Every time you overlap, you double your seed cost and lower your yield," says Murdock, adding that his John Deere equipment with automatic row shutoff capability, "is really something, no matter what size farm, it'll pay for itself."
Murdock says he will be incorporating wireless controls this fall for his grain cart and combine. "I think [the technology] is going to be great; I'm real intrigued about having our equipment talk to each other," says Murdock. "I think that's going to be big. Going forward, one can only guess what [John Deere] is going to be working on. It's pretty amazing."
