Hamburg (ots) - In the Corporate Solutions business segment,
NAVIGON offers tailor-made navigation solutions for businesses and
organisations involved in freight conveyance, provision and waste
disposal, people transportation, technical and commercial field work
as well as for software houses and system integrators. NAVIGON's
software architecture is distinguished by its modularity and
portability and can be used with a variety of hardware featuring
different operating systems. The NAVIGON Research and Development
team also creates solutions which are tailor-made for the
requirements of individual organisations. Made-to-measure navigation
solutions can be created within an extremely short space of time
which are suitable for attachment to existing systems (e.g. tour and
deployment planning, Customer Relationship Management/CRM, Enterprise
Resource Planning/ERP etc.) or can be integrated into the respective
software environments. There is the additional option of individually
expanding the existing navigation maps. So, for example, field
service employees can integrate user-defined special destinations
into the navigation system which permits regions which up until now
did not have digitalised maps to be made accessible.
The individually-programmable navigation solutions NCK 4.0
(NAVIGON Configuration Kit) and NIK 4.0 (NAVIGON Integration Kit) are
based on the software platform of the multiple award-winning consumer
product NAVIGON Mobile Navigator|4 (MN|4). The core products NCK 4.0
and NIK 4.0 for business customers are supplemented with the software
components POI Finder (Point of Interest), POI Importer and
TourManager.
NCK - NAVIGON Configuration Kit
The NCK is a professional navigation solution which, alongside the
basic navigation function, offers additional functionality which is
specially relevant for B2B customers. For example, the system
provides navigation support in off-road areas. Non-digitalised routes
can be saved as Route (Track) and followed. Further, data from the
customer's client directory can be imported into the NCK. In this
process, addresses are directly converted into coordinates and saved
as destinations.
It is possible to establish a direct connection between the NCK
and existing systems for route planning, assignment planning or
merchandise management via settings in INI files. This individualised
navigation solution also permits the accessing of entire pipeline
networks, branch connections and storage or customer locations.
Since the system sends back the current GPS position, it is possible
at any time to check the vehicle's location. Beyond this, the
navigation status can be called up which allows the current distance
from and remaining time to the destination to be effortlessly
communicated. This function is particularly helpful for
logistics-oriented businesses in the efficient planning of tours.
TMC (Traffic Message Channel) provides dynamic traffic congestion
avoidance which allows the company fleet to remain safely on the move
with the shortest possible holding times. TMC reports on current
traffic congestion free of charge, guides the driver onto an
alternative route which is free of congestion and thus saves valuable
time. This service can be used in Germany, Austria, Switzerland,
Italy, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Denmark. This
permits the navigation software to be adapted at any time to suit the
user's own route requirements. A final feature in the NAVIGON
Configuration Kit is the display of company-specific destinations
(user-defined POIs) on the map.
NIK - NAVIGON Integration Kit
On the basis of the NIK (NAVIGON Integration Kit) development
environment, which is unique in the world, NAVIGON and its partners
are able to create made-to-measure software integration solutions.
The NIK quickly and efficiently fulfills all the requirements of
mobile navigation in connection with tour planning, tracking or CRM
systems. Through the provision of more than 100 methods in a single
file (COM-dll), the NAVIGON Integration Kit can be individually
integrated into existing software environments and can therefore be
specially adapted to a company's individual requirements. The result
is a total application in which the navigation element is seamlessly
integrated. This enables, for example, the converting of addresses
into coordinates, user-defined signs within the maps (e.g. for
tracking) or the reporting of various event announcements. Using the
NIK, realtime data can be provided, for example data relating to
customers and businesses or current traffic information.
NCK and NIK 4.0 are available both as Notebook and PocketPC
versions. There is an additional option of porting the NCK onto other
Windows platforms.
Complementary Software Applications
The NAVIGON POI Finder
permits direct, fast navigation to previously saved and individually
defined special destinations without the need for additional entry of
a place or a street. Just the entry of internal company descriptions
is enough to begin navigation to the destination immediately.
With the NAVIGON POI Importer, it's possible to enter individual
special destinations into the NCK or NIK's map material. This allows
company-specific special destinations to be added as a database via a
simple text file. The saved special destinations contain information
such as name, coordinates and the client's category number. The POIs
can be displayed on the map with a variety of different symbols. The
operation takes place automatically, which means that there is no
need for additional entries on the part of the user.
With the NAVIGON TourManager 1.0, information about a route which
has already been driven can be sent to user-defined tourplanning
systems. Current position data are sent by the application for
tracking by the server and can thus contribute to an optimizing of
the route and an increase in efficiency. The details regarding
information exchange once the destination has been reached (dialogues
for sending information back to the server) can be freely configured.
