MILAN (AFX) - An Italian court has rejected Astaldi SpA's request to suspend the awarding to Impregilo SpA of the contract to build a bridge over the Straits of Messina between Sicily and the Italian mainland.
Nevertheless, the Rome-based court set a new hearing on June 21 and asked the parties to provide additional documentation.
Astaldi filed the legal action against the awarding of the contract because of claims that the offer made by Impregilo was anomalously low.
Impregilo won the contract in October after submitting a 3.9 bln eur offer, which was reportedly about 500 mln below what was being offered by Astaldi. danilo.masoni@afxnews.com dm/cmr COPYRIGHT Copyright AFX News Limited 2005.
