General Dynamics Supports National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency Hurricane Relief Efforts |

ARLINGTON, Va., Oct. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- During Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) responded rapidly to provide on-site support to first responders. One of the tools used by the NGA in providing this support was the Mobile Integrated Geospatial- Intelligence System (MIGS), a system developed by General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems to provide analytical support to a variety of international and domestic missions. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the NGA team was quickly in place with MIGS units in Gulfport, Miss., and Baton Rouge, La. The NGA teams, including General Dynamics operations support personnel, were able to rapidly create detailed maps and imagery products critical to the rescue and relief efforts. As the situation with Hurricane Rita developed, the NGA re-positioned MIGS analytical support to ensure products were available when and where federal, state, and local authorities needed them the most. The MIGS is a versatile system capable of using any type of map or imagery data. The system provides analysts with the capability of developing products critical to the military and first responders. Even in a disaster zone with no external power or communications support, the MIGS analysis and production environment provides NGA with the capability of performing its mission.
