Prism Business Media Inc. (formerly PBI Media Holdings,
Inc.) today announced the acquisition of the assets of leading
aviation directory publisher Boston Aviation Services (BAS). BAS
publications include The Air Charter Guide, The Executive Traveler
Edition and The Cellular Pilot. BAS directory products will be managed
as part of Prism Business Media's Information Data Products Group.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
"We are very pleased to add these highly respected products, as well as the talents of BAS founder Fred Gevalt III and his experienced management team, to our already strong aviation portfolio," said John French, president and CEO of Prism Business Media.
"With the integration of BAS' highly complementary products, we will be able to provide our combined customers a broader array of information and marketing services," added Shawn Etheridge, vice president, Information Data Products for Prism Business Media. "Our deep market expertise in the aviation industry will enable us to develop and launch new products and services going forward."
BAS, founded in 1985, is based in Cambridge, Mass. BAS directory products include the following:
-- The Air Charter Guide is the authoritative guide to the charter air industry. A one-of-a-kind air charter buyer's resource, the Guide provides contact and fleet details for commercially licensed aircraft operators in 148 countries worldwide.
-- The Executive Traveler Edition is a handy, pocket-sized resource that provides quick access to, and useful information on, nearly 500 of the top operators throughout the world.
-- The Cellular Pilot is an in-flight guide for pilots, providing vital information on Fixed Base Operators, approach control, airport services and avionics repair.
BAS founder and CEO Fred Gevalt III will continue to direct these properties. "The combined strength and market knowledge of BAS and Prism Business Media will enable us to extend our reach further into markets for aviation products and services, such as aircraft charter," said Gevalt. "We are excited about working with Prism Business Media on development of new information and editorial products for the entire aviation and air charter community, and on discovery of new high-end aviation service users within Prism Business Media's more than three million subscriber base."
The Information Data Products division's other aviation products include AC-U-KWIK FBO/airport directories, acukwik.com, The Aircraft Bluebook and NAVPAK flight planning software. Other leading information and rich data products from the division include Clymer and I&T equipment repair manuals; Price Digests valuation and specification resources; and a variety of niche-specific data services that extend other Prism Business Media brands.
