PARIS (AFX) - A prominent French legislator said the Libyan government is about to sign a contract with Areva for civilian nuclear power technology and added that he is confident it will also sign a contract with Alcatel for telecommunications. Patrick Ollier, who chairs the economic affairs committee in the National Assembly, made the comments on returning from a trip to Libya. He said an agreement has already been negotiated between Libya and Areva, and it will be signed within the next 15 days. He gave no further details about that contract or about the potential deal with Alcatel. paris@afxnews.com mjs/ec COPYRIGHT Copyright AFX News Limited 2005. All rights reserved.
