Aspectus Video Intelligence, Inc., the proven global
leader with the only Enterprise grade solution in digital Video
Intelligence (VI) and Video Content Analysis (VCA) Technology, today
announced that it has closed on a new round of funding for $2 million
led by New York-based investor 21Ventures LLC. The round closed
earlier this month and will be used to finance additional technology
development and increased marketing and sales activities in the United
States and the EMEA region. To date, Aspectus has raised over $3.5
million in funding and has also received a $300,000 grant from The
Chief Scientist of Israel's Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labour.
Aspectus develops VI and VCA software that automates video surveillance through embedded and distributed artificial-intelligence engines (cameras, DVRs, DSP encoders, etc.) and generates alerts on suspicious looking activities, security and safety breaches and loss prevention related activities. The company's patented Image Processing over IP (IPoIP)(TM) family of video analytics software uniquely enables the low bandwidth required by video surveillance networks to support extremely large numbers of distributed cameras, ranging from hundreds to thousands, at low cost. The company has three years of successful field deployment with customers worldwide, including: the U.S. Department of Energy, Israeli Ministry of Justice, Israeli Prison Service and Israeli Railway System, plus numerous successful field trials throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.
"Given the worldwide need to secure both the public and private sector from the threat of terrorism, the time has come for a next generation of digital video surveillance - one that is both reliable and cost effective," said David Anthony, Managing Partner of 21Ventures. "We believe that Aspectus Video Intelligence has jumpstarted that next generation and will lead the industry with their IPoIP(TM) technology by eliminating the bandwidth restrictions of today's legacy video surveillance systems and drastically lowering the cost of network equipment and its operation."
