n3k Informatik, one of the largest global system
integrators for Internet Protocol Address Management (IPAM) solutions
and Lucent Technologies, developer of the market-leading IPAM software
solution VitalQIP(R), are hosting a technology briefing on next
generation IPAM. The event will take place on September 20th at The
Kingsway Hall in central London. Online registration is available at
https://www.regonline.com/ipv6uk.
Silvia Hagen, an acknowledged independent expert on the topic, will deliver a keynote presentation on the importance of IPv6 preparation and implementation into current networks. "As a proponent and ambassador of IPv6, I am delighted to speak at the IPv6 Briefing to inform top European providers and enterprise IT managers about IPv6 in relation to DNS and DHCP" said Ms Hagen, author of "IPv6 Essentials", published by O'Reilly Media, Inc.
Currently IPv4 is pervasive in Europe. Migration will not happen overnight but the transition to IPv6 will offer more IP address space, better security measures and new configuration options compared with legacy IPv4. Tools and procedures will have to accommodate the change, and be capable of the simultaneous management of IPv4 and IPv6 address pools and the domain name information that will be required. Other new trends such as ENUM (Electronic Numbering), automated integration with RIPE (the European industry group responsible for IP address block administration), progressive software architectures for advanced communication services such as fixed/mobile convergence, IMS and increased IP automation are all driving the requirements for strong IPAM processes.
Olivier Bruyndonckx, OSS/BSS Director of EMEA Sales at Lucent Technologies, stated, "n3k and Lucent have the tools, people and processes to help large customers adopt and migrate to IPv6 smoothly and efficiently."
Julian Rigg, Managing Director of n3k Informatik Limited added, "We are excited to launch a key event together with Lucent Technologies, which is supplying n3k with industry leading software solutions, such as VitalQIP. Combined with our expertise in IPAM software integration, Lucent and n3k are jointly supporting the introduction of IPv6 in our customers' networks. IPv6 discussion is already widespread as evidenced by the attendees who have pre-registered for this event including technology leaders from the top mobile and fixed providers, the UK government, leading financial institutions and blue chip Enterprises."
