ROUND ROCK, Texas (AFX) - Computer maker Dell Inc. said Thursday it will launch a free computer recycling program in the U.S. on Friday.
Dell owners can visit the company's Web site, enter product information numbers of used Dell computers and printers, print a prepaid shipping label and schedule free home pick-up. The service is not tied to the purchase of new Dell equipment.
The company has similar programs in Europe and Canada, and already offers free recycling of any brand of computer or printer with the purchase of new Dell hardware.
Shares of Dell rose 13 cents to $22.58 in early afternoon trading on the Nasdaq.
