DENVER, Oct. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Virtela, the global network solutions company, today announced significant updates to its VirtelaView customer management portal that ease global navigation and provide further transparency into Virtela's managed network and security operations for customers.
VirtelaView is a secure, web-based portal that offers all customers end-to-end visibility and control of their Virtela-managed solutions. The new World Map feature offers a single-screen graphical view of real-time network and security statistics across more than 190 countries. Customers have immediate access to vital performance statistics, including intuitive graphs that report activity over user-selectable timeframes. Users can drill down into data for specific locations or groups of locations, with color-coded controls that can be customer-defined.
The enhanced VirtelaView also features a Security Event Matrix that presents a consolidated view of network and security events. The default view presents events across a customer's entire managed infrastructure and can be tuned down to the events of a single location or device. The Matrix includes correlation between devices to uncover interesting events that might otherwise go unnoticed. Matrix events are categorized and ranked by volume, with graphical charts presenting the quantities recognized in each category.
"VirtelaView provides a unique integrated view of Virtela's many services. It has effectively reduced the time we spend correlating events across the network," said Rod Brandon, IT director for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which uses Virtela's managed broadband network and intrusion prevention services for its network of more than 200 locations. "VirtelaView provides the information we need to maintain an efficient working relationship with Virtela, especially when it comes to change management and order status."
VirtelaView also provides in-depth reporting for customers of Virtela's Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) services, enabling them to access a global health check on their Virtela-managed equipment. RMM provides a single point of contact for comprehensive monitoring, managing and reporting on customer-owned IT infrastructure on a worldwide basis, including WANs, LANs, servers and other devices.
RMM users can access a VirtelaView dashboard that shows all customer devices under management, including configuration details and bandwidth, CPU and memory utilization. This ability to track and provide trend analysis on key inventory and operating metrics provides customers with enhanced audit and compliance visibility. For example, User Validation Reports enable customers to see the rights and privileges for their entire user base and make updates from within the same centralized view. Configuration reports, for example, include current operating system versions in use across all devices and when they were last updated.
All of these new features build upon VirtelaView's already extensive and customizable feature set, including: network performance monitoring; security policy administration; trouble ticket submission and tracking; order status; change requests; service level agreement statistics; online invoices; and custom reports on all of Virtela's services. Users can customize features such as alert notifications, for example, filtering trouble ticket notifications based on criteria (such as outage, maintenance, or security event) and timeframe.
"We are pleased to extend VirtelaView's value by making it even easier for customers to access meaningful information on every aspect of their network and security infrastructure," said Ted Studwell, Virtela's vice president of engineering and operations. "Look for continued customer-driven enhancements to the platform as part of our overall commitment to superior customer satisfaction."
