ATHENS (AFX) - The Greek merchandise trade deficit in the period January-August widened by 11 pct year-on-year to 20.648 bln eur, from 18.595 bln eur in 2005, according to data from the National Statistical Service.
The NSS said that imports were up 13.8 pct to 31.307 bln eur, from 27.502 bln for the same eight-month period last year.
Exports in the eight-month period rose 19.7 pct year-on-year to 10.659 bln eur, from 8.907 bln in 2005.
