Recognized by experts in the digital imaging industry as a one-of-kind device offering consumers new choice and flexibility, the Hitachi Hybrid DVD-HDD Digital Camcorder (DZHS300A) has been awarded the prestigious DIMA Innovative Digital Product Award. Combining the two fastest growing formats, DVD and Hard Disk Drive, into one easy-to-use device, the DZHS300A was the only camcorder chosen for the honor out of hundreds of digital products on display at this month's PMA 2007 (Photo Marketing Association) annual conference held earlier in the month in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Hitachi America, Ltd. Ubiquitous Platform Systems Division's Consumer Group unveiled the DZHS300A camcorder at this year's International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2007. From the inventors of the DVD camcorder, the innovative device takes the guess work out of having to choose a camcorder format by combining the long recording times of hard disk drives and the easy-to-share attributes of DVDs. Consumers can record up to six hours of home videos and then dub a highlight reel to a DVD disk with a simple push of a button, bypassing the PC completely.
"DIMA Innovative Digital Product Awards recognize products or services that utilize new technologies and applications that make the product either distinct or the first of its kind, said Chad Munce, PMA's group executive Digital Imaging Markets. "This year we honored an amazing group of products offering new and innovative features and functions to the digital imaging market.
"Hitachi is extremely pleased and honored to receive the DIMA Innovative Digital Product Award for the Hitachi Hybrid DVD+HDD camcorder, the first to give customers the ultimate in convenience and flexibility of two of the most popular formats today all in a single, affordable device, said Jeff Fochtman, Product Manager for Hitachi America, Ltd., Ubiquitous Platform Systems Division. "Hitachi has a long history of product and technology innovation, and the DZHS300A is a testament to those roots.
The DZHS300A camcorder offers a 1-Touch Easy Dubbing feature lets users quickly burn footage stored on the hard disk drive to DVD for playback on most home DVD players. Built to withstand the rigors of family outings, the Hitachi hybrid camcorder also offers a unique drop-proofing system that automatically detect falls, suspends read/write activity and cushions the hard drive for impact.
