VirtualLogix, Inc., the Real-Time Virtualization company, today announced it has opened an office in Tokyo, Japan to meet the growing demand for its real-time virtualization solutions for the embedded electronics market. The new office, which will be led by seasoned embedded executive, Osamu Koshigoe, marks the next phase in the company's worldwide growth and provides VirtualLogix customers in the region with unmatched real-time virtualization solutions and expertise. With VirtualLogix, manufacturers can run rich operating systems, such as Linux and an RTOS, side-by-side on a single or multi-core processor, bringing the rich functionality of Linux to new network infrastructure, mobile handset and digital multimedia designs.
VirtualLogix's Japan office will be led by Osamu Koshigoe who brings more than 10 years of embedded industry business development, sales and marketing expertise to the company. Prior to joining VirtualLogix, Mr. Koshigoe was president and representative director at Lantronix, Inc., where he established and grew Japan Lantronix, K.K. into a recognized player in the Japanese embedded market. Koshigoe has also served in product management and sales management positions at A.I. Corporation. During his tenure at A.I., he achieved 500 percent revenue growth for the company's flagship file system. Koshigoe holds a B.A. in Economics from the Hosei University, Tokyo.
"By opening its doors in Japan, VirtualLogix underscores its commitment to providing its customers and partners with local service and support as well as the resources of a global company," said Osamu Koshigoe, country manager for VirtualLogix Japan. "I look forward to growing our presence in this vibrant region and delivering world-class, real-time virtualization solutions to the Japanese market."
New network infrastructure, mobile handset and digital multimedia designs are incorporating the capabilities and features of rich operating systems such as Linux. However, many processing demands for these new designs still require the real-time performance delivered through a proprietary or commercial real-time operating system (RTOS). VirtualLogix real-time virtualization software enables multiple operating systems to run simultaneously on the same single or multi-core processor while maintaining hard real-time and high throughput requirements.
"Japan is a critical market where real-time virtualization solutions from VirtualLogix can help accelerate time-to-market for new end-product designs," said Peter Richards, CEO for VirtualLogix. "Under the leadership of Osamu Koshigoe, our customers and partners in the region can look forward to realizing the time-to-market and cost advantages of real-time virtualization solutions as well as having dedicated, local service and support to meet their ongoing design needs."
Partner Support in Japan for VirtualLogix
VirtualLogix partners with leading IP and semiconductor companies globally to bring the benefits of real-time virtualization technology to new product designs. For example, as an affiliate member of the Intel Communications Alliance, VirtualLogix continues to align its products with real-time virtualization capabilities to support the latest multi-core processors from Intel. VirtualLogix is also part of the TI DSP Third Party Network and delivers real-time virtualization to support TI DSPs.
"VirtualLogix's real-time virtualization solution increases the market value of ARM processors by enabling multiple OSes to run side-by-side on a single-core processor," said Mr. Takafumi Nishijima, president, ARM K.K. "With VirtualLogix, we can keep the real-time performance of an RTOS combined with Linux, while simultaneously adding improved security and device management capabilities."
"With VirtualLogix virtualization software on TI's digital signal processors (DSP), including those based on DaVinci technology, our customers can run the DSP/BIOSTM kernel and Linux simultaneously," said Ryutaro Tanaka, manager, DSP/MSP430 platform business development, application specific products Japan, Texas Instruments Japan Limited. "Working with VirutalLogix enables our DSP customers to take advantage of the power of both operating systems in a cost-effective manner, covering a broad range of market requirements for digital video applications."
