LISBON (Thomson Financial) - Portugal Telecom SGPS's mobile unit TMN and Sonaecom SGPS's unit Optimus will invest up to 266 mln eur in a government program to supply laptop computers and mobile broadband access to schools, Jornal de Negocios reported, without citing a source.
According to the paper, TMN will initially invest between 100-150 mln eur, while Sonaecom will invest 116 mln eur.
The Portuguese government has obliged TMN to invest 500 mln eur and Optimus to invest 274 mln eur in e-learning as part of their acquisition of UMTS licences, the paper said.
