STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (AP) - A unit of General Dynamics Corp. on Friday won a $43 million deal from the Army to repair war-torn Stryker vehicles and to supply spare parts for the Abrams military tank.
The Army awarded $33 million to General Dynamics Land Systems for advanced materials to repair Stryker vehicles damaged in battle. The company will perform the work in Sterling Heights, Mich., Ontario, Canada and London.
The remaining $10 million will be used to buy spare parts for the Abrams tanks. General Dynamics will perform the work in Tallahassee, Fla. and Lima, Ohio through June 2009.
Shares of General Dynamics rose 72 cents to $83.94 in afternoon trading.
