PARIS (Thomson Financial) - Renault expects its fourth quarter French car sales to increase by 7,000-10,000 units year-on-year, following a 2.6 pct rise in the month of October, French daily Le Figaro reported in its weekend edition, citing comments from Jacques Chauvet, senior vice president for France.
'Our sales fell in the first two quarters, but have been improving since the middle of the year, with a rise in the third quarter. The fourth quarter will also see an increase of 7,000-10,000 units in relation to 2006,' Chauvet told the paper.
For the full-year 2007, Renault nonetheless expects French sales to show a slight decrease, although the pace of decline is expected to slow versus the middle of the year, Le Figaro said.
On Friday, Renault reported a 2.6 pct rise in French car sales for the month of October, as a sharp 108 pct rise in Dacia sales outweighed a 0.7 pct decline in sales of Renault-brand vehicles.
For the first ten months of the year, however, overall group sales in France, including the Dacia brand, fell 5.9 pct versus the same period last year. tfn.paris@thomson.com vb/wj COPYRIGHT Copyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
