FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - Nokia chief executive Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo expects high costs in connection with the planned closure of the company's plant in Bochum, Germany, he told Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung in an interview.
'It's expensive everywhere if you do something like that, particularly in Germany. This is not going to be cheap,' he said.
In a separate interview with Handelsblatt, Kallasvuo added that the company has budgeted in these costs.
Asked what the company can offer in the region affected, Kallasvuo told Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung that Nokia is 'open for new and innovative solutions.'
He said that the main reasons for the plant closure have been the high labour costs in Germany, and the fact that some of the company's suppliers did not want to move to Bochum -- due to high costs. christoph.steitz@thomson.com cs1/jlw COPYRIGHT Copyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
