HOUSTON (AP) - BMC Software Inc. said Friday it has completed a $28-per-share tender offer for essentially all of the outstanding shares of BladeLogic Inc., a data-center automation company.
As of April 17, the expiration of the offer, about 27.4 million shares had been tendered, representing 96.7 percent of BladeLogic's outstanding shares. BMC said it plans to acquire the remaining shares for $28 each as soon as it can, in accordance with Delaware law.
The cash offer, from BMC unit Bengal Acquisition Corp., is valued at about $775.1 million, based on the number of BladeLogic's outstanding shares reported Feb. 13.
Shares of BMC, which makes software to manage information-technology systems, jumped $1.34, or 4.1 percent, to $34.01 in midday trading. Shares have traded between $24.77 and $37.05 in the past 12 months.
