MUMBAI (Thomson Financial) - Consumer goods company Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (HUL), the Indian unit of Anglo-Dutch Unilever Plc., posted a second-quarter net profit of 5.58 billion rupees, compared with 4.93 billion a year earlier.
For the quarter to June 30, 2008, total revenues, including sales, grew to 43.0 billion rupees, from 35.08 billion.
It declared an interim dividend of 3.5 rupees per share.
Before the announcement, HUL shares provisionally closed 1.91 percent higher at 232.20 rupees on the Bombay Stock Exchange, while the benchmark Sensex provisionally ended down 3.34 percent at 14,283.53.
