PARIS (Thomson Financial) - Atos Origin said it has won an IT contract from ERDF, a unit of EDF, for the pilot phase of a programme to replace 35 million electricity meters in France.
Atos said ERDF has selected it as architect for the information system and as lead manager of the consortium of technology firms that will conduct the pilot phase involving 300,000 new meters.
Separately, ERDF told a news conference that the contract included an option for Atos to work on the whole meter programme following the pilot phase.
The IT contract is potentially worth 100 million euros, out of the 4 billion euros to be invested in the programme, ERDF said.
The announcements confirm a report last month in Les Echos, which said Atos' consortium had won the IT order for the pilot against rival bids from consortiums led by IBM, Logica and Capgemini. tfn.paris@thomsonreuters.com gt/cmr COPYRIGHT Copyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2008.
