BAD NEUSTADT A.D. SAALE, Germany (Thomson Financial) - Rhoen-Klinikum AG. said first-half EBIT rose to 86.2 million euros from 80.8 million euros a year earlier, slightly less than expected, as its hospitals treated more patients while keeping costs under control.
The average estimate was for EBIT of 87.41 million euros, a survey by Thomson Financial News partner dpa-AFX shows.
Net income jumped to 61.9 million euros from 52.6 million euros, the German hospital operator said. That beat an average bottom-line estimate of 58.24 million euros.
Revenues edged higher to 1.05 billion euros from 1.01 billion, matching the consensus of 1.044 billion euros.
The operator of hospitals and health-care centres confirmed its 2008 full-year guidance of 2.1 billion euros in sales, up from 2.02 billion in 2007, and net profit of 123 million euros, compared with 111.2 million euros last year, excluding the effect of acquisitions.
