-UBI Banca down 3.03 percent at 14.94 euros, after the release of its interim results, which dealers said missed expectations at the operating level and showed higher-than-expected loan provisions. The bank however confirmed its 2008 targets, saying they will be achieved through a different revenue mix
-Seat Pagine Gialle down 2.64 percent at 0.103 euros
-Unipol down 1.54 percent at 1.66 euros
-Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena down 1.45 percent at 1.705 euros, as banks continued to be under pressure
-Banca Popolare di Milano down 1.44 percent at 6.48 euros, after the release of first-half results on Tuesday evening, which showed a 46 percent fall in net profit, as the poor performance of its investment banking unit offset good results from the corporate and commercial banking divisions
Main S&P/Mib gainers:
-Impregilo up 2.95 percent at 3.63 euros, amid press speculation it could soon sell its Acerra waste-to-energy plant near Naples and exit the troublesome waste management business in the area
-Tenaris down 1.76 percent at 18.38 euros, as oil-sector shares were underpinned by the oil price trend, which rose for a third straight session on supply concerns in the Gulf of Mexico and geopolitical tensions
-Mediaset up 1.03 percent at 4.83 euros, after the broadcasting group was upgraded to 'neutral' from 'sell' at Goldman Sachs
-Saipem up 0.70 percent at 26.07 euros, in a positive oil sector
-Telecom Italia up 0.37 percent at 1.07 euros, after the telecoms operator agreed to sell its Alice France broadband operations in France, in a deal that will reduce its net debt by about 750 million euros
Other stocks in the news:
-Tiscali up 8.48 percent at 1.51 euros, following a recent decline.
