MILAN (Thomson Financial) - Orders for new cars in Italy fell 25 percent in August to about 80,000 contracts, according to the Anfia industry association.
Earlier, the transport ministry said August new car registrations were down 26.42 percent to 77,156, from a year earlier.
The Unrae association of foreign car manufacturers said the government should act urgently to cut taxes on the sector.
