Silver Diner is offering Washingtonians the opportunity to cast their votes early for November's Presidential election through their own contest: Blueplate '08.
By selecting from either the Chicago-style "Obamalette" or the Southwestern-style "McCainlette" from the chain's all-day breakfast menu offerings, Silver Diner is giving area residents the chance to predict the winner of the November 4th election. The "polls" open at each of the restaurant's 15 Maryland, Virginia and New Jersey locations on Tuesday, September 30th and will remain open through Wednesday, October 29th.
"Everyone likes to make their opinion known - especially during election season in the nation's capitol", explains Ype Von Hengst, Co-Founder and Vice President of Culinary Operations for the Silver Diner. "The winner of Blueplate'08 will be chosen by how much our guests ate. So, visit the Silver Diner to vote early - and often!"
The Obamalette, Inspired by Barack Obama's favorite hometown food - Chicago deep dish pizza - this omelette features mozzarella, basil, tomato, grilled onions, and Italian sausage topped with parmesan cheese and fresh herbs. Served with a side of marinara sauce, seasoned homefries, and a fresh-baked Silver Diner signature biscuit.
The McCainlette, indicative of John McCain's home state of Arizona as well as his favorite way to cook - Barbecue - this omelette features honey BBQ chicken, cilantro, red and yellow peppers, and grilled onions topped with jack cheddar cheese. Served with a side of salsa, seasoned homefries and a fresh-baked Silver Diner signature biscuit.
"With ten Silver Diner locations serving more than 100,000 customers weekly, Blueplate '08 is of significant importance in a swing-state like Virginia", explains Robert Giaimo, Co-Founder and President of Silver Diner. "With 13 electoral votes up for grabs in the Old Dominion State we hope to predict who will earn the delegates offered by that swing state - so join us for lunch or dinner and show us how hungry for change you really are."
Political pundits can track the progress of Blueplate '08 at their local Silver Diner locations or they can follow along online at SilverDiner.com, where weekly updates will be posted as the election approaches.
