Mendelsohn Zien LLC announced today that it had completed its transfer of ownership to Hakuhodo, Inc., the eighth largest advertising agency network in the world.
In May of 2003, Hakuhodo became a minority partner in Mendelsohn Zien. Since then, the two companies have worked together on a number of clients and projects both nationally and internationally. “It’s been an excellent marriage,” said Mendelsohn Zien President & CEO Richard Zien who will continue to lead the agency. “Hakuhodo’s core principle of recognizing consumers as individuals with aspirations and dreams, meshes perfectly with Mendelsohn Zien’s philosophy focusing on why a product is bought, not why it’s sold.”
Zien went on to say, “This alliance completes the relationship we started six years ago and opens the door for MZ to fully tap Hakuhodo’s capabilities and relationships worldwide.”
As a result of this change in ownership, Jordin Mendelsohn, founder and executive creative director at Mendelsohn Zien, has decided to leave the agency in order to pursue other opportunities. “My partner and I surpassed even what I thought was possible.” said Mendelsohn. “Together we were instrumental in consistently creating an amazing product for our clients. I wish him and Hakuhodo continued success”
Hakuhodo has over sixty offices in nineteen countries and regions. Mendelsohn Zien is Hakuhodo’s North American flagship agency. Hakuhodo plans to broaden Mendelsohn Zien’s client base which includes Carl’s Jr. Restaurants, Qantas Airways, ABC7 TV, Farmer John (a division of Hormel Foods Corporation), and Hardee’s Food Systems. There are no plans to change the operating structure of the agency.
