New video showcases advancements in manufacturing process: reduces process costs and improves assembly time
Harwin Inc, the leading manufacturer of connectors and interconnect solutions for high-reliability applications, has produced a video which demonstrates the automated crimp process it has developed for its Datamate Trio-Tek open barrel crimp contacts.
The new Datamate Trio-Tek auto-crimp contact is an innovative and patented design featuring a triangular form which simplifies crimping and enables customers to automate this part of the process for medium and high-volume applications - the first automated or semi-automated system for high-reliability contacts. Up until now, automating the crimping process has been difficult, but the new Datamate Trio-Tek open barrel crimp contact has a latching feature which simplifies the insertion of contacts into the housing and can be crimped automatically or semi-automatically four to five times faster than conventional manual crimping. As a result, higher volume throughput is achieved and costs are reduced.
At the same time, the contact retains the same high-reliability standards as Harwin’s market-leading conventional Datamate contacts. Insertion of the crimped contact into the connector housing is visible and easy to inspect. The crimp grips both the conductor and the insulation jacket which improves strain relief. Two mating hardware options are available: ¼ quick turn 101 Lok and standard jack screws.
