Optametra announces the availability of its OM4105 and OM4106 Coherent Lightwave Signal Analyzers with bit rates to 112 Gb/s (100G DP-QPSK). The higher data rate is also available as an upgrade to those who have already purchased the OM4005 and OM4006 40G analyzers, announced earlier this year at OFC/NFOEC 2009. Both the 40G and 100G versions of the OM4000 series analyzers enable simultaneous measurement of any fiber modulation format, including coherent dual-polarization (DP) QPSK, and subsets such as differential QPSK.
“Optametra’s OM4000-series Analyzers capture the complete electric field of the optical signal; they are universal, and measure everything that can be known about the signal--within the bandwidth of the digitizer or oscilloscope--while not taking shortcuts at the expense of losing valuable data,” said Daniel van der Weide, the company‘s VP of Engineering.
Optametra’s software calibrates and processes real-time burst-mode constellation diagram displays, eye-diagram displays, bit-error detection (BER), polarization (Poincaré sphere), and more. The software is the most complete and flexible available today, and upgradable by design. It addresses challenging applications such as polarization scrambling, recirculating loops, and arbitrary (user-defined or PRBS) patterns, which means it is useful for actual transmission experiments, not only for tuning a transmitter. Additionally, Optametra’s Pro-version software option allows customers access to all variables in the analysis via Matlab, giving them an excellent platform for developing and testing proprietary algorithms including CD compensation, PMD compensation, new proprietary modulation schemes, pass-fail criteria, or any idea that can be coded in Matlab. Thus, “The OM4000 series of 100G Coherent Lightwave Signal Analyzers™are perfectly suited for the R&D Lab, Production Floor, and Final-Test,” said Rob Marsland, President of Optametra.
U.S. Pricing and Availability
Optametra’s OM4105 and OM4106 100G
Coherent Lightwave Signal Analyzers™ may be ordered today, with standard
lead-times of 12 weeks ARO, depending on configuration and current
availability. 100G pricing starts at $137,700 in the U.S. Optametra’s
products work with all four-channel 40 Gs/s or faster real-time
oscilloscopes, including those from Tektronix, Agilent, and LeCroy,
further future-proofing the investment in coherent fiber measurements.
