LANSINOH LABORATORIES CELEBRATES 25 YEARS OF SUPPORTING BREASTFEEDING MOMS
Since 1984, millions of moms have relied on Lansinoh Laboratories, Inc., for the support, encouragement, and education they need to breastfeed their babies successfully. And when they share their breastfeeding stories with other moms-to-be, they overwhelmingly recommend Lansinoh as a secret to their breastfeeding success. To celebrate these 25 years, Lansinoh is making a $2500 donation to the National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition (HMHB). HMHB is a recognized leader and resource in maternal and child health, whose mission is to improve the health and safety of mothers, babies and families through educational materials and collaborative partnerships. To learn more please visit www.hmhb.org.
Additionally, Lansinoh is giving away 25 gift baskets filled with the products that have supported breastfeeding for a quarter century. Each basket includes the entire line of Lansinoh products including the Lansinoh Double Electric Breast Pump, Disposable Nursing Pads, Milk Storage Bags, and award-winning Diaper Rash Ointment.
Moms, moms-to-be, mommy bloggers, and journalists can visit Lansinoh''s sponsored blog at ByMomsForMoms.net to enter the gift basket giveaway; see historical photos; and listen to a podcast interview with Michelle McLaughlin, Lansinoh''s VP of Sales who has worked at Lansinoh since the company''s inception.
“Lansinoh has played a crucial role in many moms'' successful breastfeeding experiences,” says McLaughlin. “When moms'' nipples have become sore, dried, or cracked from nursing, Lansinoh''s HPA® Lanolin has been there to soothe them. When moms have returned to work after their maternity leave, Lansinoh breast pumps have been there to help them continue to provide their breastmilk to their babies. When their babies have developed diaper rash, Lansinoh''s Diaper Rash Ointment has been there to help heal and protect their baby''s skin. The list goes on, for every mom who''s breastfed and depended on Lansinoh.”
Lansinoh is best known for its Lanolin nipple ointment, the company''s first product, and still today the No. 1 product in its category for soothing, healing, and protecting sore, cracked nipples. Resheda Hagen, a breastfeeding mother of two daughters, packaged ultra-pure, medical grade Lansinoh Lanolin in the kitchen of her home in 1984, when no other pure nipple ointment could be found. It is the only topical nipple ointment endorsed in the U.S. by La Leche League International. It was this Lanolin that provided the inspiration for the company''s name. Lansinoh means: Lan (lanolin) sin (“without” in Latin) oh (chemical symbol for alcohol).
All Lansinoh products have followed in the tradition started by Hagen—made by moms, for moms. The company''s products are created in effort to address the growing market for breastfeeding supplies and accessories. In the U.S., this market has grown 40 percent since 2005, according to IRI. The birth rate in the U.S. has increased to 4.3 million in 2007, up 4 percent since 2003, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Fully 77 percent of mothers now initiate breastfeeding, according to the CDC, the highest initiation rate the U.S. has achieved to date.
“We''re proud of the culture we''ve built here at Lansinoh,” says Gary Downing, CEO. “Every move we''ve made as an organization has been and will continue to be an effort to meet the needs of breastfeeding mothers. With the number of breastfeeding mothers increasing, we will continue to improve and expand our product line through selective acquisitions and internal development to ensure we have best-in-class products for breastfeeding mothers.”
To enter Lansinoh''s gift basket giveaway, moms must write about their most rewarding breastfeeding experience in a comment on ByMomsForMoms.net. Twenty-five winners will be randomly selected from the pool of applicants. Deadline for submission is Nov. 21 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Winners will be announced on ByMomsForMoms.net.
