Nov 4 (Reuters) - J2 Global Communications Inc posted a higher quarterly profit, helped in part by cost cuts.
The company, which provides outsourced, value-added messaging and communications services to individuals and businesses, said third-quarter net income was $19.3 million, or 43 cents a share, compared to $18.8 million, or 42 cents a share, a year ago.
Revenue for the quarter rose slightly to $61.8 million.
Analysts on average were looking for earnings of 45 cents a share, excluding special items, on revenue of $62.2 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
Total expenses fell 3 percent to $23.9 million, the company said.
Shares of Los Angeles-based J2 Global closed at $20.71 Wednesday on Nasdaq.
