TOKYO, Nov 17 (Reuters) - The benchmark Nikkei average rose 0.4 percent and the broader TOPIX was 0.3 percent higher on Tuesday.

Canon Inc rose 2.1 percent to 3,440 yen after it said on Monday it plans to buy Dutch copier and printer maker Oce for 730 million euros ($1.1 billion), in a challenge to rivals Ricoh and Xerox in the hunt for growth.
