BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY INC
Berkshire Hathaway said Stephen Burke, the chief operating officer at Comcast Corp, has been elected to its board of directors.
CIT GROUP INC
CIT said CFO Joseph Leone will retire at the end of April after more than 25 years with the company. Leone's departure will follow that of CEO Jeffrey Peek, who has delayed his own retirement to Jan. 15. CIT also appointed four new independent directors: Michael Embler, formerly chief investment officer of asset manager Franklin Mutual Advisers; Arthur Newman, a senior managing director at Blackstone Group; Daniel Ninivaggi, of the law firm Winston & Strawn, and Brad Oates, managing partner of advisory firm Stone Advisors.
TCW Group
TCW named Charles Baldiswieler president and CEO of the TCW Strategic Income Fund Inc and the TCW Funds Inc. Baldiswieler replaces Ron Redell, who recently resigned.
BROADPOINT GLEACHER SECURITIES GROUP
Broadpoint Capital, a broker-dealer unit of Broadpoint Gleacher, said Brian Hogan joined the firm's investment banking division as a managing director. Hogan joins after a 17-year career with Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where most recently he was the Global Head of the building and construction industry group.
MACQUARIE GROUP
Macquarie Group's equities broking arm in India made three senior appointments to expand its coverage in Asia's third-largest economy. Sudhanshu Bhuwalka joins as associate director in equity sales from Reliance Equities. Neil Nathwani is to join the equity sales team from Daiwa and Suresh Ganapathy will head the financials research team for India. He was previously at Deutsche Bank.
CALUNIUS CAPITAL
Litigation funding adviser Calunius Capital LLP announced the appointment of Christian Stuerwald as head of case assessment. His arrival in January 2010 will precede the first close of the Calunius Fund. Christian joins from Allianz Litigation Funding
GRANT THORNTON LLP
Financial adviser Grant Thornton UK LLP announced the appointment of Glenn Stone as the new head of infrastructure at the Grant Thornton member firm in U.S. Stone has been a project finance partner at Grant Thornton U.K. for over 10 years.
