NEW DELHI, Jan 12 (Reuters) - The chairman of Indian state-run telecom Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd, has resigned, the Press Trust of India news agency reported on Tuesday.
'Yes, I have put in my papers,' R.S.P. Sinha told the agency, The PTI report was carried on the Business Standard's website.
Reuters could not contact Sinha for a comment.
The PTI said Sinha, who was 18 months away from retirement, did not speak about reasons for his stepping down.
MTNL shares closed down 5.1 percent in a Mumbai market that fell 0.6 percent.
