UK's Royal Mint, US, Australian, Fijian, Russian, Swiss and Japanese Mints Review Project
Estrel Convention Center – The United Future World Currency (UFWC) Eurodollar coin is exciting tremendous worldwide interest going into the 2010 Berlin World Money Fair starting Friday, January 29, as the number of national mints striking or designing copies continues to escalate. Belgium, Israel and Mexico have already struck copies of the UFWC Eurodollar coins, with the Italian Mint displaying its own artistic concept based on a Leonardo da Vinci design. The UK Royal Mint is considering a coin made out of palladium alloy, plus the US, Australian, Russian, Fijian, Swiss and Japanese Mints confirmed their interest for the project.
A mint gold copy of the UFWC Eurodollar will be presented to Hans-Henning Göhrum, President of the 39th World Money Fair, on Friday, Jan 29, at 3:00 pm during the opening day reception attended by the heads of the more than 50 mints, national banks and student representatives from selected international schools with their own designs of the UFWC coin. Mr. Göhrum will receive the UFWC coin from Princess Elettra Marconi, daughter of Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi, and Dr. Sandro Sassoli, Author and General Coordinator of the UFWC program and President of Museo del Tempo, Rome, Italy.
Designed by Luc Luycx, the designer of the Euro for the Royal Mint of Belgium - the UFWC Eurodollar is continuing to garner international publicity from world leaders including Russian President Dimtrij Medvedev, and Italy's Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. At the G-8 Summit in Italy (July 2009) Russian President Medvedev illustrated his call for a supranational currency to replace both the US Dollar and the Euro by pulling from his pocket a sample of the UFWC coin. US President Barack Obama has received a copy of the coin and an original is on display at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington.
