CDW-G Partners with TKCIS to Provide Microsoft Enterprise Software to the Department of Energy

DOE Laboratories and Offices Leverage Their Purchasing Power to Secure Best-Value Pricing

CDW Government LLC (CDW-G), a leading source of Information Technology (IT) solutions to governments and educators, today announced it has partnered with TKC Integration Services (TKCIS), a subsidiary of Qivliq, LLC, a small disadvantaged business providing a broad spectrum of IT enterprise technology products and services to the Federal government, on a five-year enterprise agreement to deliver a broad range of Microsoft server, desktop and collaboration software to the Department of Energy (DOE).

By partnering with CDW-G, prime contractor TKCIS will leverage CDW-G's e-commerce, service and distribution capabilities, including software license tracking, to support the fulfillment of the agreement, while providing direct technical and customer support to the DOE.

Through the agreement, the DOE's 21 laboratories, field offices and headquarters will leverage their collective purchasing power to secure best-value pricing, driving down software expenditures. The DOE will also benefit from five years of Microsoft software assurance, which allows purchasers to upgrade to the latest Microsoft releases at will. Software assurance benefits also include home purchase programs for employees, on-site training credits and technical support. Individual labs and field offices can use these software assurance benefits as they wish, rather than having to pool their benefits with other DOE entities.

"Department of Energy agencies will be able to leverage their collective purchasing power across more than 130,000 desktops and numerous networks nationwide," said Jet Defensor, TKCIS vice president. "Additionally, the agreement allows the department to utilize the advantages that come with a NASA SEWP (Solutions for Enterprise-Wide Procurement) contract, including the ability to add products, streamlined procurement and low administrative fees."

Under the agreement, CDW-G and TKCIS will provide the full complement of Microsoft software, including:

  • Microsoft Exchange™ Server
  • Microsoft SQL® Server™
  • Microsoft Windows® Server
  • Microsoft Enterprise Desktop
  • Microsoft E-CAL
  • Windows OS

The DOE enterprise agreement also standardizes enrollment dates across all DOE entities. Previously, DOE entities had non-standard enrollment dates, which made it difficult for IT administrators to keep track of their license renewal dates and complicated budgeting. Standardized enrollment dates simplify license renewals and budgeting, allowing administrators to focus on mission-critical tasks.

"With this agreement, Energy entities will conserve budget dollars and reduce the time and resources required to maintain software applications," said Andy Lausch, CDW-G vice president of federal sales. "At the same time, the DOE works toward fulfilling its small business goals by leveraging the superior service capabilities of TKCIS."
