FRANKFURT, Feb 10 (Reuters) - Cargo volume at Frankfurt Airport rose nearly a third last month to a January record, owner Fraport said on Wednesday, driven by booming international trade with North America and Asia.
More than 157,630 tonnes of airfreight moved through Germany's main airport, beating the previous record from January 2008.
Passenger volume rose 3.5 percent to around 3.7 million travellers despite poor weather.
Chief Executive Stefan 'Schulte already said last week that passenger numbers at Frankfurt Airport increased year on year but the numbers should be even higher than expected, especially as weather conditions were poor in January,' a Frankfurt-based trader said.
