Thomas Cook up as investor day impresses
Shares in Thomas Cook gain 1.9 percent to 245 pence as investors react positively to Wednesday's strategy presentation during which the company set a target of increasing its operating margin to 5.5-6 percent in the next three to five years.
Barclays Capital analyst Julian Easthope says the target is some way ahead of his estimate of 4.8 percent in 2012 and offers significant upside.
'We believe the targets are feasible and reiterate our overweight rating on the company and 300 pence price target,' he says.

UK small caps up 0.1 pct early on
The FTSE Small Cap index gains 0.1 percent in early deals, bucking a weaker trend for both the blue chip and the mid cap indexes, down 0.3 and 0.2 percent, respectively.
Regional newspapers publisher Johnston Press is a good gainer, up 6.2 percent after it says it sees advertising stabilise and circulation trends improve as it posts a 44 percent fall in 2009 operating profit to 71.8 million pounds, slightly ahead of expectations.
On the downside, Tanfield Group gave back 8.4 percent of Wednesday's 45 percent leap which followed news the commercial electric vehicle maker had received a 37 million pounds cash offer for the assets of its electric vehicle division.
