TOKYO, March 15 (Reuters) - The benchmark Nikkei average dipped 0.2 percent and the broader TOPIX rose 0.1 percent on Monday.

**SHIPPERS HIGHER AFTER JUMP IN SEA FREIGHT INDEX**
Shipping firms climb after the Baltic Exchange's main sea freight index rose 5.73 percent to a two-month high. Fresh Chinese demand for iron ore helped buoy the index, which tracks rates to ship dry commodities.
Nippon Yusen climbed 2.3 percent to 353 yen, Mitsui O.S.K Lines rose 1.8 percent to 628 yen, and Kawaski Kisen K.K. advanced 2 percent to 355 yen.

**JVC KENWOOD SLIDES AFTER EARNINGS RESTATEMENT**
Electronics maker JVC Kenwood Holdings Inc slid 9.3 percent to 39 yen after restating its earnings over the past several years, including the previous financial year, due to accounting problems at its consumer electronics maker unit Victor.
It is also now forecasting bigger losses for the year ending this month, estimating an operating loss of 9.0 billion yen, up from its previous forecast of 3.5 billion yen.
For the past financial year, JVC Kenwood revised its operating income to a loss of 1.54 billion yen, after previously saying it made a a 100 million yen profit.

**SHIMANO RISES AFTER ANNOUNCING SHARE BUY-BACK**
Bicycle parts maker Shimano Inc rose 1.5 percent to 4,090 yen after saying on Friday that it would buy up to 4 billion yen of its own shares between March 15 to March 31.
Shimano said in its announcement, which came after the market closed on Friday, that it would buy back 1 million shares, which amount to 1.1 percent of its outstanding shares.
