Options traders in bullish bets before GameStop results
Options activity on GameStop Corp suggests an upward move in the stock after earnings are reported ahead of the bell. Wall Street expects the world's largest video game retailer to post earnings of $1.28 a share for its fourth quarter and $3.45 billion in revenue, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S. The stock rose 2.3 percent to end at $19.86 on Wednesday. On the options front, put volume was greater than call volume, but more of the calls were being bought on the offer, implying aggressiveness among buyers, while puts were being sold on the bid, which means sellers were more aggressive in unloading those positions. Liberty Media Corp and hedge fund Elliott Management Corp have decided not to bid for Hollywood studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc, Bloomberg said, citing people with knowledge of the bidding.
The report said MGM's value fell below a price Liberty executives believed would be acceptable to the studio's creditors.

Sandy Spring prices offering at 9 pct discount
Sandy Spring Bancorp said it increased the size of its share offering by about 6 percent and priced it at $13.50 per share.
The offer price represents a discount of 9 percent to the stock's $14.91 Wednesday close.

Futures dip ahead of jobs, inflation data
U.S. stock index futures dipped on Thursday, one day after the Dow pushed to a 17-month high, while investors awaited data on consumer inflation and the labor market.

S&P 500 futures fell 1.3 points and were below fair value, a formula that evaluates pricing by taking into account interest rates, dividends and time to expiration on the contract. Dow Jones industrial average futures were flat and Nasdaq 100 futures were off 3 points.
