March 19 (Reuters) - Japan's third-largest convenience store chain FamilyMart Co Ltd has decided to take as much as a 10 percent interest in Sony Corp's ticket seller Entertainment Plus Inc, the Nikkei business daily said.
The Nikkei said FamilyMart will announce the deal on Friday, which will make the convenience store chain the third-largest shareholder in Entertainment Plus, after Sony Music Entertainment Inc and Credit Saison Co.
FamilyMart is yet to decide on the method of purchase or the size of its investment, the business daily said.
This May, the company will begin round-the-clock in-store sales of tickets, and will also launch a service enabling customers to pick their own seats by year-end, the paper said.
The company could also sell tickets overseas via FamilyMart locations in South Korea, Taiwan and elsewhere, the report said.
